Heuristic Evaluation with Ubiq
Through the Ubiq tutorial, I was able to understand and follow the overall process of interaction of a VR platform and how they function.
I initially found the navigation process slightly confusing, as there was not an explanation about what keys and mouse motions I had to use in order to experience the different servers and platforms, and had to try pressing everything, but once I grasped the way it functions, I thought it navigated in a quite intuitive manner.
The atmosphere itself was pretty challenging at first as well, as the layout of the background of the program and the platforms involved understanding the layers of information processing as well as some basic computer language.
The functions itself I personally considered to be quite useful and interesting, as they involved interaction on the screen, joining and exiting various rooms, movement with the avatar's hands, with the avatar's body, interaction with other avatars, all by controlling the scripts and the pen tools. Although I did have some difficulty fully understanding how the different scripts caused different interaction options, being able to understand the differences in options provided through the different scripts registered.
Because I am not very experienced with VR toolkits, I thought the entire experience was very intriguing and so did not have an eye to catch out the inconveniences to be developed, but I personally thought the interface and the design of the avatar themselves could be improved to create a more attractive platform.
